What are some well know (pop-culturally) epics that are easy to parody?

I'm writing the feature on a cynical senior's high school career/ memories/ snide remarks in my school paper. I think it would be neat if it was basically a spoof instead of a serious article. I was thinking of starting it like "Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away..." and kinda carrying it through, but Star Wars has already been done a lot, and I don't really know enough about it to keep it up through the piece. Any suggestions?
